Dear Baseball Fan,
Welcome to Borchardt Field.
A Milwaukee, Wisconsin native and baseball enthusiast I wanted to choose a company name that held a special meaning. The company name was inspired by the original Borchert Field ball park, located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, pictured above. Originally constructed in 1888 and named Athletic Park, it was located on the North side of Milwaukee on a rectangular city block among residential housing; in 1919, Milwaukee native Otto Borchert bought the Brewers franchise and owned it until his death in 1927. The ballpark was renamed in 1928 in his honor. Borchert Field seated about 14,000 fans. What was unusual about this field was its short foul lines, 268 feet to left and right. The fence then angled out sharply, making for deep “power alleys” and center field was 400 feet from home plate. The park was razed in 1953 and is now covered by Interstate 43.
This field was also home to two other baseball teams over the years, the Milwaukee Bears of the Negro Leagues and the Milwaukee Chicks of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League.
This web site is a tribute to classic baseball. When they played it for the love of the game. Hopefully, this site will bring back great memories. I remember in 1982 when I watched my Milwaukee Brewers beat the California Angels in game five to win the American League Championship. Thousands and thousands of fans paraded down Wisconsin Avenue. It was a sight to see.
I invite you to become a part of baseball’s history – our national pastime.
Thanks for visiting us!
